August 2015 Pearlington (Swamp Eagles) pistol match results

August 16, 2015 Leave a comment

After several months of unrelenting heat, we finally got a break. It wasn’t hot today, but it was wet! In hindsight, we should have just cancelled on the threat of rain, but hope sprung eternal, at least at 9 AM. While we had a big shower before 7 AM, we thought we could get it in. Several shooters made the call to not shoot and left before the first shot. Those that stayed were treated to continuous teasing by the rain and sun gods. It would rain, then stop and look promising. Then it would do it all over again. Read more…

July 2015 Pearlington (Swamp Eagles) pistol match results

It is sounding like a broken record, but it was blisteringly hot today. That may be why the turnout was a bit down. There were only 31 shooters today and many of those thought the ones that didn’t come were the smart ones. Several shooters got overheated and had to seek shade to recover. Even in the shade, it was hot…

We managed to get done by around Noon and got picked up shortly after that, but it was still just unmercifully hot and humid by that time. Thank you to everyone who helped pick up the props.

Yes, there were winners today. They were hot, but they were winners. The overall match winner was  Read more…

Hot didn’t begin to describe the weather today. Unless you want to talk about the humidity. Let’s just say it was survival of the fittest. It was Father’s Day and the turnout was pretty darn good. We had 48 shooters competing and because of the setup and squad size, we moved along pretty well. Most shooters were done by 12:30, even with 6 stages making the match longer than normal.

When the dust settled, there was one man left standing. And that was none other than  Read more…

May 2015 Pearlington (Swamp Eagles) pistol match results

The score sheet link has been correctly repointed to the May match. Sorry…

It was the first Sunday and not the third, and there was competition in Poplarville with their 3-gun, but the Swamp Eagles managed to get 31 shooters to come out for the match. Since our usual third Sunday will be taken up by the Mississippi Classic, we move the May match to the first Sunday.

The weather was great and the shooting was spirited, too. We had a few new shooters and a new face at the top of the leader board when it was all said and done. The overall match and Limited division winner was  Read more…

**UPDATE** Many of the regular setup crew will not be able to show up on Saturday before the match so we are looking for extra help on Saturday afternoon to get the stages built. If you can assist with setup, your match is paid for by Tom, so you shoot for free! This is like earning $15 for just a couple of hours work. If you can help, please call Tom at 504-458-0093.

If no one is able to help with setup, there is a possibility the match could be cancelled. Please check here before coming out on Sunday morning, just in case.

April 2015 Pearlington (Swamp Eagles) pistol match results

It looked like the entire month of April was going to be a washout, but we managed to get the match in today after all. It was sloppy, and directly resulted in one DQ (due to a slip and near fall), but we managed without rain and had bright sun by the end of the match.

There were some scoring glitches that resulted on three total stages being wiped out of the Nooks scoring computers. One squad lost two stages and another squad lost one stage. The issue has been identified and will be reported as a bug to the developers. But this massive reshoot pushed the end of the match into the afternoon.

When the shooting and reshooting were over, there emerged one name at the top of the shooter’s heap. And that was none other than  Read more…

Weather update: As of 7:45 PM we are still shooting. We set up all the stages this afternoon and just have to put up the targets tomorrow. While it may rain some more tonight, the forecast is for 5% or less from 8 AM to 1 PM. So, plan of coming tomorrow. Looks like a big crowd is expected.

March 2015 Pearlington pistol match results

The weather was nice and the shooting even nicer. Thanks to the classifier match at EAPS, we had a near record turnout, with a large, non-regular crowd from Louisiana making the trip. We’re always glad to have you and hope you keep us in mind in the future.

Since the webmaster was under the weather today, we are a bit light on the sparkling commentary. So, let’s get on to it.
