September 2015 Pearlington (Swamp Eagles) pistol match results

We finally got a break on the weather and weren’t sloshing around in the mud. It was a bit warm, but overall, it was a nice day. We had 37 shooters show up, but unfortunately, four of them ended up disqualified.

With the regular old-codger setup crew off for the week, the stages reflected challenging courses, but without a great deal of props. That being said, you had to be on your technical game today to score well.

There is always a winner, and today the overall match winner was Read more…

Dawson PrecisionWhat a difference a month makes. It seemed like Summer would never end, but it at least took a break today and treated 25 shooters to some spectacular weather. It was 57 when I got to the range today and only 77 by the time I left. The humidity was low and there was a light breeze and cloudless skies. What more could you ask for?

Well, how about some hot shooting? With the great turnout and even better stages, the game was on. The competition was hot and heavy, but in the end, the GM won the match. The winner by a comfortable margin was  Read more…

BPSA September Outlaw Steel Results

BPSA Small

This month we had to cancel the monthly USPSA match due to the rain and the wet condition, but we had an outlaw steel match in it’s place.  We had 32 shooters come out and had some great weather, even though the ground was still muddy.

The match scores can be viewed by clicking the score sheet at the right.

The South Mississippi Practical Shooting Association will host the monthly pistol match this Sunday (September 13, 2015) at the range in Poplarville. The match will begin at 9 AM. The weather should be great by Sunday, and Gerald is going to grade the road/hill before the match so it should be smooth sailing. Since Biloxi is cancelling the regular USPSA pistol match on Saturday, this will be your only chance for real pistol this weekend.

Online registration is now available here or click the giant button below. Please sign up if you plan on attending.

BPSA September Pistol Match … Saturday September 12th!

September 11, 2015 Leave a comment

UPDATE:  The match is still on, however, with a few important changes due to the weather.

Due to the rain yesterday and today, the range surface is a little dicey to be running around, and we aren’t going to setup stages this afternoon in the rain.

Rather than have our regular USPSA match, the plan for now is that we are going to have an outlaw speed steel shoot. No movement and no requirement to drop mags in the mud. Very similar to Steel challenge, except it will be outlaw. Expect 4-5 stages, 4-5 strings each stage, 5 or so static steel targets per stage. 100-150 rounds.

USPSA steel challenge rules/divisions in effect. .22LR welcome, pistol caliber carbine welcome also.

Setup will be in the morning at 7am, registration at 8:30am and shooting starts at 9am.

$10 match fee instead of $15.

If rain continues in the morning, we may cancel altogether. If so, I’ll send an email out to anyone pre-registered and on the BPSA facebook page by 7:30am at the latest. If you don’t hear anything else by then, the match is ON.

BPSA Small Pre-registration for the BPSA September 2015 Monthly match is now open. To sign-up, just click on this link: BPSA Online Match Signup. For those of you who don’t sign-up online, we will be at the table at 8:30 – Safety Briefing and Hammer Down at 9:00. This month’s stages can be previewed by clicking on the stage icon below. We look forward seeing you there!!! Gate code 4000. See you Saturday. Be Safe, Have Fun. stage

September 2015 Poplarville 3-Gun match results

The weather tried its best to kill another match, but the shooters won this time. As has happened so many times this year, the weather on match day was fine, but a big storm the prior afternoon turned the road into the range into a slip and slide. However, this time, 4 wheel drive won out. It was slippery, rutty, and nasty, but the small crowd of shooters switched it in redneck mode on the pick-em-up trucks and made it up with little drama.

We had only 9 shooters but we still had a good match. With four quality stages with a mixture of speed and endurance, the challenges abounded. And, as is almost always the case in 3-gun, making the fewest mistakes rewarded someone with a victory.

On top of the podium was Read more…

September 2015 Poplarville 3-gun update (Saturday night)

We set up the match this afternoon, but a shower dampened the range and the road late in the afternoon. Wayne reports that the road isn’t too bad, but the lower, flat part is quite “squishy”. We are still shooting, as of now. The next forecasted rain isn’t until 11 AM tomorrow, at a 50 % chance. Let’s hope our luck holds out. If something changes, I will update this web site from the range, but the match is on unless I explicitly post a cancellation here.
