May 2012 Poplarville pistol match results

May 13, 2012 2 comments

Another match is history. While it was Mother’s Day and therefore, the turnout was a bit light, we shot four really interesting, challenging stages and a classifiers that some might be seeing in their sleep by now. The weather could hardly have been better. It rained a fair amount on Saturday and the road in was a bit slippery, but today, it was perfect. The temperature was great, it was overcast most of the time and humidity didn’t seem bad. The fourteen people who told Mom “I’ll be by later!” got some final practice in for the Mississippi Classic to be held next week in Jackson.

The scores are done and winners are in the books. So who won?  Read more…

May 2012 Pearlington pistol match results

Match scores have now been posted!

Despite the drama about stage 1 and the heat, mosquitos and rain we actually finished our match this month. A special thanks to those who stayed to help pickup after the match. We had 47 shooters, High overall and Match Winner was Max Michel, Allen Maxwell took High Limited, High Production was Cliff Cargill, High Single Stack went to Stephen Lasavia and believe it or not High Revolver went to Robert Konrady after a very close battle with the other Revolver Shooters. We shot 5 stages with a round count of 138. Next match before the Classic will be in Poplarville so come shoot and get the bugs out before the Classic. One final note, anybody finding any range mud on their gear please bring it back to the range.

The match scores can be viewed by clicking the score sheet at the right.

Shoot straight, stay safe

May 2012 SMPSA 3-gun match results

It started out to be a nice morning, but as the day wore on, it got hotter and hotter. Fortunately, two of the stages had pop-shade set up to keep the shooters out of the Sun. We’ll try to get them all covered next time.

Speaking of next time, the next 3-gun match will be in September. If you have to ask why, then you weren’t out shooting with us today. We take the Summer off because it just gets too hot. The 3-gun matches take longer than USPSA, and there is more setup and pickup and resetting stages takes longer, and people just get worn out. Watch the calendar and reminders for the Fall return of 3-gun.

We had 17 shooters today, with a mix of old faces and a few new ones. Thank you to everyone that came out on such a great day. We appreciate all the great help setting up and picking up. At least in my squad, the help was outstanding. Everyone pitched in and stages were always reset and patched quickly.

We shot 4 challenging stages today. The round count was not outrageous, but the stages were quite challenging. Once again, the 500 yard rifle target reared it ugly head. Yes, it was still a bonus target, and no, no one hit it today. One of the stages was nicknamed “Top Shot” for the lack of a super high round count and focus on fundamental skills, such as loading and aiming, but in the end it seemed to go over well with the rest of the shooters. In the end, the winner wasn’t much in doubt.  Read more…
