May 18, 2014 Leave a comment

We could hardly have asked for a better match this weekend. The weather was great and the shooting even better. The group of guys in the photo represent some of the best shooters South Mississippi has to offer. When the results were tallied, shooters from our three coast clubs brought home many of the honors, including:

  • High Junior Limited – Josh Benton
  • High Senior Open – Max Michel
  • High Super Senior Production – Lee Frasier
  • Third M Limited – Gerwin Henn
  • Second A Production – Michael McDonald
  • Second D Production – Carter Brown
  • First M Production – Bo Gray
  • First C Revolver – Mike Payne
  • Second A Single Stack – Joel Senia
  • First C Single Stack – Chris Brown

Congratulations to all the winners!

May 2014 Poplarville pistol match results

Dawson PrecisionThe annual Mother’s Day match is always at crap shoot. Sometimes, we have a great turnout, because it is the last match before the MS Classic, and sometimes we just have a few, as commitments to the holiday take the toll. Today, it was kind of in the middle with 15 shooters. The weather was crummy Friday night and the road was slippery in the morning. A couple of folks needed the 4-wheel drive taxi, but most were able to make it just fine. The range itself always drains well, so the shooting bays were fine.

Dawson PrecisionThe road is pretty bad. If you don’t have a truck and want a ride, call Bill at 228-223-6297. We will send a truck for you.

We are still shooting on Sunday. The road in may be a bit slippery, so if you have four wheel drive, use it. If cars can’t make it up the hill, we will ferry people up with the trucks.

BPSA May Pistol Match .. Saturday May 10th! – CANCELLED –

BPSA Small

Just went out to the range, and as much as we hated to do it, this month’s BPSA match is cancelled.  The Poplarville match is our last chance before the Mississippi Classic next week…..Stay tuned.

Well, the weather forecast for Friday afternoon and Saturday looks pretty grime.  We really don’t want to cancel the match but if it rains enough, our range becomes very muddy and possibly dangerous.  So, we plan on having the match until a time when we just can’t.  I will keep the site updated with the latest news, one way or another.  Check back later tonight and again in the early morning……Thanks

Saturday is looking good and the stages are ready.  This is the last BPSA Match before the Mississippi Classic.  Come on out and tune up your game.   Match sign-up begins at 8:15 – Safety Briefing and Hammer Down at 9:00.   This month’s stages can be previewed by clicking on the stage icon below. We look forward seeing you there!!! Gate code 4000.  See you Saturday!

Be Safe, Have Fun.

May 2014 Poplarville 3-Gun match results **Updated – complete scores**

The scoring computer issue has been resolved. The results didn’t change but we now have stage totals as well as the match totals. We apologize for the delay in getting the detailed scores done.

Our final match of the summer was well attended, with 15 shooters in all. The four stages presented a variety of challenges with a twist. For the first time in quite a while, we had some flying targets in the form of clay pigeons tossed in response to a popper being shot. They weren’t hard to hit, unless you couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. A few of us gagged on them, sadly, but it was great fun for those who did smash them. It is probably the best type of target to give feedback to the shooter.

The match winner was not a stranger to the podium with Read more…

May 2014 Pearlington pistol match results

For an off-schedule match, this one turned out great. Because the Mississippi Classic falls on the same weekend as the Pearlington match, we reschedule the May match for the first weekend of the month. This, along with the stellar weather contributed to a great turnout. A bunch of shooters from the Jackson area came down to get one more practice match in before the big match in two weeks, and the locals turned out in droves as well. In all, 52 shooters participated in the competition.

The top spot was hard fought all day long, but in the end it was Read more…

Sorry for the delay in posting the scores. There seems to be a problem with the scores when entered into EZWinScore, and as such, I have temporarily entered the scores into a simple table. When I can resolve the issue, the total scores will be posted, but for now, this is what we have.

May 2014 Poplarville 3-gun match reminder

Dawson Precision

This is our last match until September. During the Summer, it is just too hot to shoot a decent 3-gun match, so this Sunday will be the last chance for 3-gun for several months.

This also marks the renewal time for club membership. As a club member, you get access to the range and a $5 discount on all matches, both USPSA pistol and 3-gun. Membership is only $35 per year and goes to keep the club running.

May Pearlington pistol match announcement

The normal May Pearlington match falls on the same weekend as the Mississippi Classic, so the May match has been rescheduled to the first Sunday of May, which is the 4th. Please make sure to tell your friends about these to changes so they don’t show up and find no one home.
