August 2019 Biloxi (DSSA) pistol match results
After a brief one month break, we got back in action at Biloxi. The rain held off for the entire match, but the heat and humidity didn’t. At times, it was downright oppressive. But, hey. We had fun!
Possible weather concerns kept the turnout lower than normal, with just 28 shooters completing the 5 stages of fire. Things moved along smoothly and I don’t think any squads waited on anyone today. That was nice. Because Gerwin and Roger were still out on fish business, it was up to the team to fill in. We had several guest stage designers today. Special thanks goes to David Pape and Steve Tannetta for stage 5, and Jason Welch and John Nguyen for stage 4 (both design and setup were done by those duos, with setup help from others). Bryce Dupuy also designed stage 3 for us today. If you enjoyed their work, please let them know. If you didn’t, well, then come on out next month and set up what you like to shoot! We are happy to have designs from anyone.
The rather light turnout didn’t keep the competition from being the usual fierce battle for supremacy, but when everything was tallied up, there was a clear winner. By a margin of about 6.5%, Read more…

August 2019 Poplarville pistol match results
For once, the weather not only cooperated but was a big help. After a week of blistering heat and humidity, we dodged two big weather bullets for the match today. This should have been the eighth match of the year, but it was actually just the fourth, and we really needed to shoot. Although rain wasn’t really in the forecast for today, we managed to miss some serious storms just to the south of the range. We also caught a break with the overcast skies pretty much all morning. It was humid, but the clouds made it much more bearable. I can tell you from personal experience this week setting up that without the clouds, we wouldn’t have wanted to be there.
The match today could be characterized in two words. “New shooters”. We had at least 8 brand new to USPSA shooters and at least a handful more new to us and pretty new to USPSA. And it was great! A huge round of thanks goes to Peter and George for bringing out most of them and helping get them acquainted with the rules. In my squad, everyone got through their first match and seemed to have fun, as well. We all had a first match in our past and sometimes its hard to remember just how scary it was. Thank you to everybody who helped with the new shooters today. I know they appreciated it.
OK, enough of the chit-chat. Let’s see who won. It really wasn’t that close when the dust settled. At the top was Read more…
