BPSA September Pistol Match .. Saturday September 13th! – Cancelled!!!

September 9, 2014 Leave a comment

BPSA Small

We have a couple of issues out at the range today that has forced us to cancel this month’s match.  First, the range is in the process of reclaiming the lead from the berms on the pistol ranges.  So, there is a lot of standing dirt all over the bays.  Then, the afternoon rain turned everything to mud.  Because of all the dirt work, none of the water ran off, making the ranges completely unusable.  Alas, there is still hope for Poplarville on Sunday and Pearlington next week.  Until next time….be safe!

Everything is looking good for the match.   It’s going to be another hot one, so be prepared.   We tried to keep the stages challenging, but designed them with the heat in mind.  We are going to be a little short handed this month, so the more that sign-up online, the quicker we can get started.

To sign-up, just click on this link:   BPSA Online Match Signup.

For those of you who don’t sign-up online,  we will be at the table at  8:30 – Safety Briefing and Hammer Down at 9:00.   This month’s stages can be previewed by clicking on the stage icon below. We look forward seeing you there!!! Gate code 4000.  See you Saturday!

Be Safe, Have Fun.

September Poplarville 3-gun match results

September 7, 2014 Leave a comment

Today may have been the hottest match we have ever had. It’s a good thing we take off for the Summer. It was beyond unpleasant, at least from a temperature/humidity standpoint. The shooting was great, the stages were great, but it was all about the heat.

We had 10 shooters today, which ties our lowest turnout of the year. The stages were challenging, but I guess there were some who thought it might just be too hot. We have requested better weather for next month…

The results are fairly typical for a 3-gun match with Read more…

September 2014 Poplarville 3-gun match reminder

September 2, 2014 2 comments

The 2014-15 3-gun shooting season kicks off this coming Sunday (September 7) in Poplarville. It seems like an eternity since the last match but it’s really only been 4 months. If you are looking for another stop on the 3-Gun Nation tour, however, this isn’t it. There are no pro shooters, no black/red circle targets, and no cameras (except the occasional GoPro), but there are challenging stages requiring physical exertion, long-distance and close-range shooting, and general good times for those that like to enjoy their Second Amendment rights.

If you haven’t shot 3-gun before, then please check us out. Our rules and important information can be found here. Spectators are welcome, but bring eye and ear protection. Membership is not required to shoot or to watch. If you have shot with us before, then you know the drill. Bring ammo, food and water, sunscreen and a good attitude.

August 2014 Pearlington pistol match results

August 17, 2014 1 comment

The rained threatened but never materialized. Forty-one shooters signed up today and we got the match in, even though rain and lightning surrounded the area all morning. Thank you to Bob for some great stages, once again. Quick, challenging but not overly difficult. The results were a bit unexpected, but then again, maybe not.

Our match winner and Open division winner was Read more…

BPSA August Pistol Match Results

BPSA Small

It is beginning to feel like over 60 shooters is becoming the normal turnout. The weather was a normal hot humid South Mississippi August day, but that did not hamper the 63 shooters that came out today.  Luckily, we finished up just before the afternoon rain.  But all thing considered, I think everyone had a great time and hopefully, your skills were challenged.

It is not unusual for someone to come up to me at every BPSA match and tell me how challenging (hard) our match has become.  And that’s Ok….  If we are not challenged, we will not improve.  Where else are you going to find a Tuxedo target at 25 yards or a pepper popper 20 yards out?   We like to feel that if you shoot here, you can shoot anywhere.  And with that said, today’s division winners definitely earned their titles and we congratulate you for impressive performances.

Again we had over 50 shooter’s pre-register and that really helped save us time getting everything setup and started.   If you didn’t pre-register, you need to get on board…..pre-registering gives you opportunity to pre-squad with your friends and saves you having to fill out all your info the morning of the match.  The pre-registration link is on each month’s match announcement.   Look for it!!

We would like to thank everyone who came out today and I want to especially thank everyone who helped set-up and those of you who helped break down. We appreciate it more than you can ever imagine.

As always, if anyone ever has an idea for a stage, you are welcome to come on out and have at it. Just let us know and we will reserve a bay for you. We will appreciate the help and you may just have a talent for stage design that you just don’t know about yet.

Again and as usual, thanks for all your help and support. Without you, we could not make this all happen!

Again, congratulations to this month’s winners….

Dawson PrecisionThe August match has been cancelled due to the rain at the range on Saturday evening. The road became impassible very quickly and will not be usable for days. We will resume shooting 3-gun in Poplarville on September 7. The next pistol match will be September 14.

July 2014 Pearlington pistol match results

July 20, 2014 Leave a comment

What a day it was today! This was our biggest turnout ever, and yet, everything worked perfectly. With rain cancelling EAPS, we picked up a bunch of Cajun shooters who normally don’t shoot our match. We had 61 shooters compete over 5 stages, and everyone beat the rain.

Some of the results don’t look anything like normal, which just goes to show if you shoot at the top of your game, you can win the big one. We had two big upsets for a pair of shooters who have labored in the shadow of their (tor)mentors. Until today. Our overall match winner was Read more…

The weather looks a bit iffy for tomorrow, but we are still on, as of 8 PM on Saturday. We set up this afternoon and the range was fine. However, the forecast is a 60% chance of rain for tomorrow. Please check here for any update before coming out, just in case it rains tonight. If there is no notice of cancellation, we will be shooting.

We are expecting a larger than usual crowd because EAPS had to cancel. If you are coming, please try to show up by 8:30 AM or earlier.

Dawson PrecisionI hate to sound like a broken record, but once again, it was hot! We expect this kind of weather in the Summer, but that doesn’t mean we enjoy it. If we could only have shot last weekend. Oh, well.

We had a decent turnout for the hot weather. A total of 18 shooters made it today for the usual fun, but challenging stages. We tried to keep it short because of the heat, and we managed to finish the last shooter by Noon, so it wasn’t too bad. Even the road was decent today, despite the rain late in the week.

But enough of the fluff. Let’s hear the results! Our overall winner was Read more…
