July 2014 Poplarville pistol match results

Dawson PrecisionI hate to sound like a broken record, but once again, it was hot! We expect this kind of weather in the Summer, but that doesn’t mean we enjoy it. If we could only have shot last weekend. Oh, well.

We had a decent turnout for the hot weather. A total of 18 shooters made it today for the usual fun, but challenging stages. We tried to keep it short because of the heat, and we managed to finish the last shooter by Noon, so it wasn’t too bad. Even the road was decent today, despite the rain late in the week.

But enough of the fluff. Let’s hear the results! Our overall winner was Max Michel in Open. It was actually pretty close, though, with Gerwin Henn (high Limited) less than 6 match points behind. The Production battle between two Master shooters was won by Jason Welch. Other division winners included Sean Benton dethroning his uncle, the reigning Revolver champion for the past two years. Wayne Alcock took Limited 10 and Bob Brandt won Single Stack.

Thank you to everyone for the help during setup and teardown. We had one new shooters today who actually did quite well. Unfortunately, we had another new shooter suffer his second DQ in two matches. They were careless mistakes, so we hope he can learn from them and gain more confidence with his skills. Thank you to both guys for coming out. Please come back next month.
