February 3-gun match reminder in Poplarville

January 31, 2015 4 comments

The match got cancelled but the weather tricked us. Fifteen minutes after we called it, the rain let up and was done for the day. Oh, well…

Tomorrow, we challenge the weatherman to a duel. Pistols, rifles and shotguns at 50 paces at sunrise! Well, sort of. The call for rain keeps moving back so it looks like we will at least get started dry. We may end up wet, but we have set up 4 stages that should be quick to shoot, quick to reset and quick to tear down so we can get done as soon as possible. Somebody even mentioned that there was some sort of sporting event on TV later on in the day, but it can’t compare with 3-gun at Poplarville. Hammer down at 9 AM…

The first match of the new year was well attended and well-weathered. It was a bit cool at 9 AM, but by the end of the match, it was short sleeve weather. With forty shooters and five great stages from the mind of Bob, we cruised to a smooth match and were done by just a little after Noon. Our fearless leader abandoned us for a cruise today, but it didn’t seem to affect anyone.

The overall winner and Open division winner was Read more…

Dawson PrecisionThe weather could have been a lot worse. It could have been cold, like Biloxi was yesterday, and it could have rained like it was predicted to do. But neither happened and we were done in record time. With five quick, but challenging stages, we zipped through the match and were done shooting by 11 AM. We had an even dozen shooters and the two squads moved quickly.

The results weren’t all that surprising, but there seems to be a pattern developing. With his second match win of the weekend,

BPSA Small

This month we had 41 shooters and a great match.  It was a little on the cold side.  If you didn’t pre-register, you need to get on board…..pre-registering gives you opportunity to pre-squad with your friends and saves you having to fill out all your info the morning of the match.  The pre-registration link is on each month’s match announcement.   Look for it!!

We would like to thank everyone who came out today and I want to especially thank everyone who helped set-up and those of you who helped break down. We appreciate it more than you can ever imagine.

As always, if anyone ever has an idea for a stage, you are welcome to come on out and have at it. Just let us know and we will reserve a bay for you. We will appreciate the help and you may just have a talent for stage design that you just don’t know about yet.

Again and as usual, thanks for all your help and support. Without you, we could not make this all happen!

Again, congratulations to this month’s winners….

On Sunday night, the emails went out to those lucky enough to make it into the Classic or at least on the waiting list. There are some real unhappy campers down here on the coast, too. If you didn’t get an email this evening, you stand almost no chance of making it in. Read all about it here

December 2014 Pearlington pistol match results

December 21, 2014 1 comment

We ended up the 2014 shooting season with a bang today. Lots of them, actually. Thirty-five shooters came out to squeeze one more match in before the New Year. Thanks to five quick stages from Bob, we got done at a reasonably hour and were headed home shortly thereafter.

When the dust had settled, and the scores tallied, there was a familiar face at the top of the heap. The overall winner and Open division winner was Read more…

Dawson PrecisionThe last match of the year, although lightly attended, was a good one. The weather was perfect, the stages challenging and the shooters were ready. Well, most of them were.

The time of year seemed to keep a lot of regulars at home today, but that didn’t stop the 12 competitors who did show up from having a great match. We had hoped to put on the big mover on stage 5, but we ended up pulling it out because of equipment failures. That’s too bad, because it looked challenging but actually wasn’t all that bad in the “after-match”. We’ll get it working reliably some day.

Even though it a quart low from a full match, that didn’t stop the overall winner from walking away with the top spot. Congratulations to Read more…
