December 2014 Poplarville pistol match results

Dawson PrecisionThe last match of the year, although lightly attended, was a good one. The weather was perfect, the stages challenging and the shooters were ready. Well, most of them were.

The time of year seemed to keep a lot of regulars at home today, but that didn’t stop the 12 competitors who did show up from having a great match. We had hoped to put on the big mover on stage 5, but we ended up pulling it out because of equipment failures. That’s too bad, because it looked challenging but actually wasn’t all that bad in the “after-match”. We’ll get it working reliably some day.

Even though it a quart low from a full match, that didn’t stop the overall winner from walking away with the top spot. Congratulations to John Nguyen for smashing the rest of the field by taking Open. In Limited, Jason Welch, cruised to an easy win, even though he was shooting his regular Production Glock, with regular Production mags with Minor ammo, but filled up all the way. It goes to show you that is isn’t just about the highest capacity or most expensive gun. In Production, Monty Hoover scored his first division win in his first match with us! Okay, he was the only Production shooter, but he still finished first.

With the small turnout, we split into two squads of just 6 each. Without good participation, this can be tough, but everyone pitched in to tape and reset and we were done shooting and loaded up by around 11:45 AM. Thank you to everyone for helping with everything today.
