BPSA November 2016 Two Gun and Shotgun results!
We had a great turnout today for the Two Gun match followed by the Shotgun side match. We had 29 shooters in the Two Gun match and another 18 in the shotgun match.
The weather was nice, aside from some brisk wind that necessitated us to bring out the sandbags to keep everything weighted down. The competition was just as stiff as names at the top of the scoreboard changed hands several times between stages.
In the Two Gun match, Stage 1 featured the Texas star, and was the most accuracy intensive stage of the day with every paper target having a no shoot. Clayton Patterson took this stage win home with a 27 second run, followed closely by Ivan Deroche and Jeret Howard.
Stage 2 had you starting empty handed with the rifle and pistol staged on separate tables. Bryant Willett took the stage win here with a 28 second run, with Jeret Howard and Joseph Arabie right on his heels.
Stage 3 had you starting with the pistol and the rifle staged down range. Steven Mosher took the stage win here with a 24 second run, with Steve Lashinsky and Bryant Willett right behind him.
After it was all over the final results showed the following winners:
Tactical Division: Steven Mosher
Limited Division: Jeret Howard
Open Division: Bryant Willett
Full results: https://practiscore.com/results/new/28674
In the shotgun match, stage 1 again feature the Texas star, and Ivan Deroche set the pace here with a 15.34 time, followed closely by David Martian with a 15.96.
Stage 2 required 11 rounds, 3 lollipops on the side berms and 5 small poppers on the center. No surprises at the top of this stage, as Ivan again set the pace with an 11.63 and David was right on him with less than two tenths separating them.
Stage 3 was a 12 round stage with 6 lollipops to your left, each in two shot arrays, with the right side being filled out by two plates and four poppers. This stage would decided the match, as David Martian laid down a smoking 13.04 with Clayton Patterson, Joseph Arabie and Trey Nicholson right behind him.
When the dust settled these winners emerged:
Limited Division: David Martian
Open Division: Clayton Daigle
Heavy Division: Ray Sawyer

BPSA October 2016 3-gun Results!
We had a great turnout for 3-gun today, with 22 shooters making it out for the match. The weather was perfect and the competition was stout. We had 4 stages, each won by four different people, with even second place being four separate people.
Stage 1 was the long range stage, 2 strings of statice steel at 100 yards, one being weak shoulder, and then a third string with Pistol at a popper at 25-35 yards. Steven Mosher set the pace here with a time of 35.02, and Richard Padgett was right behind him with an impressive raw time of 40.19 with no scope magnification!
Stage 2 was a 25 round short course that gave competitors the option to shoot their choice of any two guns. Joe Jones made the winning selection turning in a blazing time of 15.64, with David Martian right on his heels with a time of 16.09.
Stage 3 required all three guns, engaging 25 yard paper with rifle, a steel array with shotgun, and then the Texas star with the pistol. It gave a few different options on how to run it, with the biggest question being shooting on the move between stations or posting up and then moving. Kevin Leonhardt came out on top on this stage with a smoking time of 23.80, followed closely behind by both Richard Padgett and Jeret Howard at 24 seconds.
The 4th stage was a long field course that required rifle and shotgun and covered the length of the bay in movement. You really had to have your track shoes on for this one, as well as be able to reload the shotgun efficiently as it required a minimum of 10 shots at steel. Ivan Deroche ran away with this stage and the overall match here with a time of 27.62, with Jeret Howard being the next closest at 31.64. No one else was within 7 seconds of Ivan on this stage, and that helped propel him to the overall win.
Overall Winner: Ivan Deroche
Tactical Division: Ivan Deroche
Limited Division: Jeret Howard
Open Division: Steve White

BPSA September 2016 USPSA Results!
We had 65 competitors come out today for the BPSA September 2016 USPSA match, and we hope everyone enjoyed the match and appreciate all of you coming out and participating.
Aside from just big numbers turning out to shoot our matches lately, it’s also the quality of folks coming out recently that really make the match special.
Now on to the action:
Stage 1 was a classifier stage, Riverdale Standards. It was a three string standards stage that test strong and weak hand shooting and required one shot per paper. Chris Plaisance made easy work of this stage with his CZ Scorpion, hitting all Alphas in 17.30 for the overall stage win with a 5.7803 hit factor. Roger Henn was not far behind in Open division with a slightly faster time but dropping more points to finish with a 5.4589 hit factor.
Stage 2 was a 28 round field course with 4 walls and targets scattered around that presented some tough leans and a few tight shots. We saw this stage run a variety of different ways, and there was no clear consensus on how it should be done. When the dust settles, however, it was pretty clear that Corey Yates was doing some things on this stage the rest of us haven’t learned yet as he ran away with the overall stage win by over 22%. It wasn’t even close.
Stage 3 consisted of only six targets, which you had to shoot six times. It’s no surprise that the guys with the quick trigger fingers would rise to the top on this stage, and that’s exactly what father/son duo Robert and Jonathan Jones did here, as they put up the 1st and 2nd fastest times and finished the stage 2nd and 3rd as they were just edged out on points by Corey Yates who took yet another stage win.
Stage 4 was an “N” shaped field course that had some retreating movement, and a mix of steel and tight shots. Corey Yates took home the overall stage win here as well, followed closely by Steven Mosher and Jonathan Jones.
Stage 5 was a 31 round long course. Very long course, in that in involved forward movement of nearly the entire 40 yard bay. The guys who wore their running shoes today fared better on this one, and while it was again won by Corey Yates, he was followed closely by Roger Henn and Bill Mahley.
Overall Results:
Open: Corey Yates
Limited: Steven Mosher
Production: Ken Cornwell
Carry Optics: Bryant Willett
PCC: Bill Mahley
Revolver: Gerald Benton
Single Stack: Lloyd Marine

We’d also like to thank everyone that helped setup the match, for without you none of it would be possible. Lee Frasier, Gerwin Henn, Roger Henn, Gerald Forbes, Chris Davis, Sandi Davis, Nick Jamerson, and Aaron Fitzgerald. If you see these guys give them a big high five!
Big thanks to everyone who came out and shot the match, ran timers, scored nooks, pasted targets, and helped tear down. It really is a team effort.

2016 MS CQB Rifle Championship Results!
The 2016 Mississippi CQB Rifle Championship is in the books, and we certainly hope everyone who came out and competed enjoyed themselves. We had a record high 86 competitors turn out today, and everything ran incredibly smooth.
Despite the torrential thunderstorms all around us, we somehow managed to avoid the rain, which was amazingly lucky. It must be all that good karma we’ve built up the past few months!
Now on to the action:
Stage 1 was the shortest of the match, a 22 round, “r” shaped layout that gave shooters the option of engaging the right side array through the port and running around the front to finish, or taking the left side first and backing up to finish in the port.
Drew Walters chose the latter option, and just obliterated the stage with a time of 11.06, besting even the Rimfire shooters.
Stage 2 was the most target rich stage, a 36 round in a large “E” layout turned on its side. Shooters had several ports to use as options, and it appeared most shooters opted to run around the front of the stage to finish on the opposite side.
The plan Bryant Willett chose to run proved to be the best by far, as he finished 1st and 2nd here with his Rimfire and Rifle entry, a good two seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Stage 3 was a 30 round layout that had you moving down range and engaging target from a few different positions. There was one particular double target partially obstructed by a board, and Thomas Knight was the only shooter we saw that chose to nearly kneel to shoot the lower one from the start position, and that proved to be the winning strategy on that stage as he took the stage win by almost a full second.
Stage 4 was another 30 rounder, this one broken up by three walls creating four different shooting positions that really only left shooters with two viable plans to run the stage. Christopher Dimenna picked the right option and threw down a smoking 12.52 for the stage win.
Stage 5 covered the most real estate, setup in a large inverted “L” layout. Shooting on the move on the left side array was the recipe for magic on this stage, and both Roger Henn and Ivan Deroche laid down times in the 17 second range, with Steven Mosher putting up a 16 second run in Rimfire.
Overall Results:
State Champion Rifle: Roger Henn
1st place Rifle: Roger Henn
2nd place Rifle: Kevin Leonhardt
3rd place Rifle: David Martian
High Super Senior Rifle: Lee Frasier
High Senior Rifle: John Huber
High Lady Rifle: Michele White
