May 2015 Poplarville pistol match results
The annual Mother’s Day match is always hit or miss. Those brave enough to sneak out and ignore Mom and/or the wife can expect to pay later on. Those that choose to honor that special woman often miss a good match. Today was one of those good ones. Although we had only 12 shooters, we had five great stages. With only one squad, we zipped through and were done shooting and tearing down by about 12:15 PM. Oh, yeah. Summer has arrived.

May 2015 Poplarville 3-gun match results *Finally*
The match scores have been fixed and the final results are posted. The mix-up occurred when one of the squads recorded several of their stages on the wrong stage. Anyway, it has been fixed and the results are only slightly changed from the scores distributed at the match.
The turnout was good with sixteen shooter overall. The weather was the star of the day with clear skies finally gracing match day. We had several new shooters and they did great. We also want to thank the shooters who renewed their membership to the club. Your membership is the only reason we can continue to shoot. We really appreciate your financial support.
Our overall winner was someone new to the podium. Without winning a single stage, but shooting consistently enough to take the top spot, the honors go to Read more…

We discovered a problem with the scores. Squad 1 accidentally recorded 3 of the 4 stages on the wrong stages in the scoring computer. I think I figured out what happened, but it will take a while to fix it. So, please check back later for the real results.
April 2015 Poplarville pistol match notification
And now, we have cancelled. The road is impassible and it is a light rain. Sorry…
As of Saturday at 6 PM, the match is still on. We set up most everything today and the road is is certainly passable. It was a bit damp but was not slippery. It is possible we could get rain during the match tomorrow, but that’s the chance we take. Unless it is pouring at the range at 8 AM, we are shooting.
Watch the weather as it is likely we will get rained out. We haven’t cancelled, yet, but please check here before coming out Sunday. We will post a positive yes, we will shoot; or no, we cancelled.

March 2015 Poplarville pistol match results
Last month, we set an attendance record for the past five years. Today, we nearly equaled that record. We had 29 shooters competing and, just as notable, we instituted online registration. Fifteen of the shooters pre-registered, which makes the final registration go much quicker. Look for this next month as well.
It would be hard to complain about the weather today, because it was just about perfect. We started on time and were pickup up and ready to go by 1 PM. Other than a few scoring setup issues (sorry about that), things went very smoothly. The squads never waited (unlike last month), and the pace seemed to be just about right.
The leader board looks fairly normal, with the overall winner also taking the Open division. Congratulations to Read more…

March 2015 Poplarville 3-gun match results
After losing two consecutive months to the weather, we finally got a match done. It was actually pretty nice, all things considered. It wasn’t hot, it wasn’t cold, it didn’t rain (until after we were done), and it was overcast all day so conditions were consistent for everyone.
The turnout was also a pleasant surprise. We had 15 shooter, with three of them being first time shooters to our club. Everyone seems to have a great time, although the stages were surprisingly challenging. Only one shooter completed the entire match penalty free.
So, without further adieu, lets get to the good stuff. The match winner was Read more…
February 2015 Poplarville pistol match results
This was an interesting day today. February is always iffy on the weather, but it was great today. Not too hot, not too cold, sort of a Goldilocks day for weather. It was the turnout that was a bit surprising. We had the largest turnout since June 2010, with 34 shooters competing for the top spot. We had quite a few regulars, but also a first time ever shooter and quite a few first time for us shooters. The clubs thanks everyone who came out today to support us. Unfortunately, we hadn’t planned on the big numbers and it caused a few logjams.
As most of you know, our shooting bays don’t always allow all stages to be shot concurrently. Today brought that home with a exclamation point. Try as we might, we just couldn’t keep it going and several squads waited, and waited, waited. The last group finished after 2 PM, so it made for a long day, but thankfully, the weather was pleasant.
With the delayed finish, the results are just now being posted for most shooters. Our overall match winner was Read more…
February 3-gun match reminder in Poplarville
The match got cancelled but the weather tricked us. Fifteen minutes after we called it, the rain let up and was done for the day. Oh, well…
Tomorrow, we challenge the weatherman to a duel. Pistols, rifles and shotguns at 50 paces at sunrise! Well, sort of. The call for rain keeps moving back so it looks like we will at least get started dry. We may end up wet, but we have set up 4 stages that should be quick to shoot, quick to reset and quick to tear down so we can get done as soon as possible. Somebody even mentioned that there was some sort of sporting event on TV later on in the day, but it can’t compare with 3-gun at Poplarville. Hammer down at 9 AM…
