South Mississippi Practical Shooting

Seems like a long time since we have shot a BPSA match, so everyone is ready to go.  Saturday is looking good and we still have a bunch of stages that we didn’t get to shoot last month.

We have signed up the club with Practiscore, and now have the ability for you to sign-up for our matches online.  Signing up online will save you time at the sign-up table and us time getting the match started.  Give it a try.

Just went out to the range, and as much as we hated to do it, this month’s BPSA match is cancelled.  The Poplarville match is our last chance before the Mississippi Classic next week…..Stay tuned.  

Well, the weather forecast for Friday afternoon and Saturday looks pretty grime.  We really don’t want to cancel the match but if it rains enough, our range becomes very muddy and possibly dangerous.  So, we plan on having the match until a time when we just can’t.  I will keep the site updated with the latest news, one way or another.  Check back later tonight and again in the early morning……Thanks

Another successful match in the can and Saturday ended with 58 folks having a great day of shooting!!  Some of our regular crew were off shooting the Area 6 match this weekend and this left our match short handed.   We thank everyone who stepped up and made this months match one of the best ever!!  I would like to give special thanks to those folks for the coordination, set-up, score keeping, break-down, and a well organized and executed match.  Also, special thanks to the folks from the other South Mississippi and Alabama clubs for pitching in with stage design, equipment, ROing , and general guidance.  Just goes to show that are all part of a close-knit community of individuals that are 100% committed to this sport.  Again we thank you!!!

As always, if anyone ever has an idea for a stage, you are welcome to come on out and have at it. Just let us know and we will reserve a bay for you. We will appreciate the help and you may just have a talent that you just don’t know about yet.

It just keeps getting better and better!!  Today we set a new BPSA participation record at 63 shooters!!!  I guess word is getting out that we are running a class act.  Every month we hook a few more people on this sport and if you happened to look over at the new shooters briefing today, you would have seen a crowd of about 12 new shooters.  We are happy to have all of you, hope everyone had fun, and we hope to see you again next time.  Always glad to see our sport getting more and more popular.

The weather today was absolutely perfect and the range conditions could not have been better.   As usual, this month’s stages were second to none.  There was a little bit of everything here today…..Long shots, fast stages, mind benders, and even a couple of 3 shot twists.   Thanks to Gerwin and Bob for the excellent job done on stages 2 and 5.

We would like to thank everyone who came out today and I want to especially  thank everyone who helped set-up and those of you who helped break down. We appreciate it more than you can ever imagine.

The February BPSA match has come to a close and 57 shooters are going home with a big smile on their face.  The weather today was absolutely perfect and the range conditions could not have been better.  All afternoon folks were coming up to me and telling me how great the stages were and how much they enjoyed the match.  I think this match is getting better and better every month and we all need to thank Steven, Bryant, and Gerwin for their excellent stage designs.  Today’s match had something for everyone whether your talents tend to favor run-n-gun, moving targets, long shots, or unusually difficult and complex classifiers.  There was a little bit of everything here today.

We would like to thank everyone who came out today and I want to especially  thank everyone who helped set-up and those of you who helped break down. We appreciate it more than you can ever imagine.

It was raining pretty hard and looking grime at 6:00 am.  Then the clouds parted, rain cleared, and by 9:00 the weather was great. That’s just January in South Mississippi! Range was a little muddy but the 37 shooters did not seem to care.   We had a great match today!!   I think that today’s match is just a preview of a great shooting year for BPSA and all the Mississippi clubs.

UPDATE – Crazy as it seems, we are still going to shoot today!  Looks like we have one more band of showers, then it is clear for the rest of the day.   May be a little sloppy, but a what’s a little mud among friends…..
