April 2015 Pearlington (Swamp Eagles) pistol match results
![]()
It looked like the entire month of April was going to be a washout, but we managed to get the match in today after all. It was sloppy, and directly resulted in one DQ (due to a slip and near fall), but we managed without rain and had bright sun by the end of the match.
There were some scoring glitches that resulted on three total stages being wiped out of the Nooks scoring computers. One squad lost two stages and another squad lost one stage. The issue has been identified and will be reported as a bug to the developers. But this massive reshoot pushed the end of the match into the afternoon.
When the shooting and reshooting were over, there emerged one name at the top of the shooter’s heap. And that was none other than Read more…

And now, we have cancelled. The road is impassible and it is a light rain. Sorry…
As of Saturday at 6 PM, the match is still on. We set up most everything today and the road is is certainly passable. It was a bit damp but was not slippery. It is possible we could get rain during the match tomorrow, but that’s the chance we take. Unless it is pouring at the range at 8 AM, we are shooting.
Watch the weather as it is likely we will get rained out. We haven’t cancelled, yet, but please check here before coming out Sunday. We will post a positive yes, we will shoot; or no, we cancelled.

April 3-Gun match in Poplarville cancelled
Unfortunately, we have to cancel the 3-gun match scheduled for this weekend (April 5, 2015). We are still planning on May but please check back here before coming out next month.
Incredible safety violation
I almost never stray from the reporting of the local shooting news, but this warrants a deviation from that policy. By now, many of you have seen this video. If you haven’t, then please watch and learn from the mistakes that were made in this situation. It did not occur at any of the local clubs, and I have not seen any reference to where it did occur.
Everyone is responsible for safety on the range, but no one more so than the Range Officer. Many of us are formally trained, and many others handle the timer without the formalities of a USPSA RO class. Regardless of your training level, if you pick up the timer, you must pay attention.
We can debate who was at fault here, but the point is, someone could have been injured or killed, due to carelessness on the part of the RO.

The weather was nice and the shooting even nicer. Thanks to the classifier match at EAPS, we had a near record turnout, with a large, non-regular crowd from Louisiana making the trip. We’re always glad to have you and hope you keep us in mind in the future.
Since the webmaster was under the weather today, we are a bit light on the sparkling commentary. So, let’s get on to it.

This Sunday, the Pearlington club will host the regular USPSA pistol match. This month will be a regular match with four stages plus one classifier, instead of the classifier match, as we have done in past years. Word is, EAPS is having a classifier match this Sunday, so if you want to shoot a regular match, come on out!

March 2015 Poplarville pistol match results
Last month, we set an attendance record for the past five years. Today, we nearly equaled that record. We had 29 shooters competing and, just as notable, we instituted online registration. Fifteen of the shooters pre-registered, which makes the final registration go much quicker. Look for this next month as well.
It would be hard to complain about the weather today, because it was just about perfect. We started on time and were pickup up and ready to go by 1 PM. Other than a few scoring setup issues (sorry about that), things went very smoothly. The squads never waited (unlike last month), and the pace seemed to be just about right.
The leader board looks fairly normal, with the overall winner also taking the Open division. Congratulations to Read more…

March 2015 Poplarville 3-gun match results
After losing two consecutive months to the weather, we finally got a match done. It was actually pretty nice, all things considered. It wasn’t hot, it wasn’t cold, it didn’t rain (until after we were done), and it was overcast all day so conditions were consistent for everyone.
The turnout was also a pleasant surprise. We had 15 shooter, with three of them being first time shooters to our club. Everyone seems to have a great time, although the stages were surprisingly challenging. Only one shooter completed the entire match penalty free.
So, without further adieu, lets get to the good stuff. The match winner was Read more…
