May 2014 Poplarville 3-Gun match results **Updated – complete scores**

The scoring computer issue has been resolved. The results didn’t change but we now have stage totals as well as the match totals. We apologize for the delay in getting the detailed scores done.

Our final match of the summer was well attended, with 15 shooters in all. The four stages presented a variety of challenges with a twist. For the first time in quite a while, we had some flying targets in the form of clay pigeons tossed in response to a popper being shot. They weren’t hard to hit, unless you couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. A few of us gagged on them, sadly, but it was great fun for those who did smash them. It is probably the best type of target to give feedback to the shooter.

The match winner was not a stranger to the podium with Wayne Alcock taking the top spot. Wayne was actually shooting heavy metal so he had a different sort of challenge, which he managed to overcome quite well. In second place was Will Mullendore from Jackson. Will is new to the sport of 3-gun but has shot USPSA for a few years but was looking for another form of excitement. I think he became a convert after just one match. He shot great and had he shot cleanly, he might have even won the match. No one shot the match clean indicating the level of difficulty, so the challenge was really to screw up the least.

Once again, we thank everyone who helped with set-up and tear down.

We will close this month with a reminder that we do not shoot 3-gun in June, July or August because of the heat, so look for the return of regular matches in September.
