May 2016 Pearlington (Swamp Eagles) pistol match results

May 15, 2016 Leave a comment

Although the web master forgot to post the match notification this week, the turnout was actually pretty good, at least for as long as the match has been in Poplarville. We had 25 shooters come out today and they were treated unusually pleasant weather. The humidity was mild, as were the temperatures. So, the environment was ripe for a great performance.

At least a few shooters had a good match and their scores put them on top. The overall match winner was  Read more…

May 2016 Poplarville pistol match results

Dawson PrecisionThanks, Mom! Thanks for letting your Son/Husband/Father/Sister/Daughter (fill in your appropriate relative) come shoot today. The typical Mother’s Day match is lightly attended, but today was different. We had 26 shooters out for fun in the Sun. There were 6 quick, but challenging stages, where the desire to go fast sometimes overcame good shooting judgment. I’d like to say everyone shot clean for Mom, but that wasn’t the case. Those that did, prospered. Those that didn’t suffered. Oh, yeah. The weather today was fantastic, too!

When the results were finally computed, there was a now-familiar name at the top. The overall winner and Open division winner was  Read more…

BPSA April 2016 Multi-Discipline Pistol Results

We had 61 shooters come out today for the Multi-Discipline pistol match, and by the feedback we received it was a huge success.  We had great weather, aside from some high winds, and some seriously challenging Pro-Am style steel stages.

Overall, the mix of USPSA, Pro-Am, and Steel Challenge stages seemed to be a nice change from normal, and provided a different set of unique challenges on each stage.  You really had to be on the front sight (or dot) today to do well.

Congrats to Corey Yates on winning Open, Gerwin Henn winning Limited, and Jason Welch winning Production.

Full results are available here: RESULTS

Another congratulations to Terry Yu for winning the Reloading package, consisting of a Dillon 550 from Tom Duchmann at Action Shooting Supply, a $200 Black Bullets gift cert from Chandler LaFrain at BBI, $200 gift cert for reloading supplies from Southern Reloading Supply courtesy of Randy Brownlee, and a free membership to Coast Rifle and Pistol Club courtesy of CRPC.

Also want to thank Michael Morgan for bringing the Precision Tactical t-shirts and the coupons.

And last but certainly not least, a huge thanks to the setup crew, without whom this or any BPSA match would not be possible:  Gerwin Henn, Roger Henn, Chris Davis, Sandi Davis, Gerald Forbes, Lee Fraiser, Joe Borgstede, Nick Jamerson, and Kyle Watkins.

We’ll be doing it again soon!

April 2016 Pearlington (Swamp Eagles) pistol match results

April 17, 2016 Leave a comment

The loss of our home range seems to be taking a toll on the match participation. For the second time, the Swamp Eagles shot at the Poplarville range and the turnout was quite modest. While we had a bunch of new shooters, which is great for the sport, the regular Swamp Eagles shooters numbered only about five. I guess the longer drive is just reason enough not to see more regulars.

In any event, the match today went off well. There were 18 shooters present, so the two squads moved along well. We were done before 12:30 and all picked up pretty much as we went. The stages were light on steel (4 pieces total) and lighter on no-shoots (2 total), and the actual courses were not overly demanding. This also helped the pace of shooting.

When the scores were done, the results looked like this. The overall winner and Open division winner was Read more…
