July 2015 Poplarville pistol match results

Dawson PrecisionIt’s full-on Summer and Mother Nature was out with a vengeance today. Because of the heat, we shot only four stages, and they were relatively quick. And, as a result, we were out of there by 11:15 AM. So, at least it didn’t linger on and on.

The turnout was a bit light with just 13 shooters, but the stages were fun. I normally save the thanks for the end of the post, but today deserves special credit. We had the best help I can remember in a long, long time. Your match staff really appreciates that because they got to the range at 6:30 AM and were just plain worn out by the end of the shooting. Thanks again, everybody, for helping get things picked up.

And now, the results. The overall match winner was Max Michel in Open division. Max was shooting one of the new STI DVC open guns. The webmaster had a chance to shoot it and it is a sweet gun. The trigger is great, and it really is a flat shooter. What makes this one special is it was in blue, not hard chrome, so the casual observer might not have recognized it. You can’t get one like that unless your name is Max Michel, so don’t call STI about one just like it for yourself. In Limited, Clayton Patterson took the top spot, while Bo Gray won Production. Wayne Alcock was first in Limited 10 and Russ Smith was the top Single Stack shooter.

Don’t forget about Pearlington next week. Tom has requested an overcast day so it should be lots cooler than it was today…
