September 2014 Poplarville pistol match results
After the rainout in Biloxi Friday afternoon, we expected a better turnout than we got today, but those that did show up were a bit surprised at the simple appearing, yet surprisingly challenging stages that confronted them. We had sixteen shooters overall, and one brand new shooter to the sport and to our club. He did great, even with the surprisingly tough stages. Hopefully, he will come back next month and let his wife shoot next time!
When we showed up this morning, it was 68° and no rain since mid-week. Hopes ran high with the setup crew that it would stay about 72° all day, but that was quickly passed by. Although it was warm, it was not miserable and the shooters managed to get done by Noon. That’s always a good thing.
The overall winner was Max Michel in Open. In Limited, Gerwin Henn took the top spot, Bo Gray was the top Production shooter and Wayne Alcock won Limited 10. Only one shooter, though, managed to shoot a clean match. Great job, Bo. That’s a statement to just how sneaky these stages were.
We had great help tearing down the stages today, so a special thanks goes out to the shooters that helped at the end. Hopefully, this will be the last of the hot matches for the season. I think we are all ready for the cool weather. We also finished the day off with a big boom, thanks to Carter Brown. Don’t forget the Pearlington match next Sunday.
