UPDATE – March 2017 Brothers N Arms USPSA Match

March 24, 2017 Leave a comment

Though the weather is probably not going to be what we would like to have, tomorrow’s match is still on!  There are six stages plus a classifier and while we look forward to seeing everyone there, we completely understand if you can’t make it.  Please take the time to withdraw if turns out that you won’t be attending.

Obviously, we reserve the right to delay or even call the match if safety concerns warrant, but to quote our fearless Match Director – “Shooters ain’t snowflakes!”.  See you at the range!

February 2017 Brothers N Arms USPSA Pistol Match

Registration is open for the February USPSA Pistol Match at the Brothers N Arms Range in Hattiesburg. This month’s event will have at 6 stages, including  a classifier.

I asked you guys last month what you thought about January’s match having more stages, more steel, and a higher overall round count.  For those that responded, the overwhelming response was that ya’ll loved it and wanted more of it. Our stage design officer heard you – six stages, four stages with steel (29 total pieces and one stage alone has 13), and a round count right at 150.  We have also had a few requests to add Pistol Caliber Carbine to our match and the decision has been made to do so.  You’ll find it now as an option on the registration form.

I want to give a special thank you in advance to Bill Jackson from the Poplarville Club, who will be filling in for me at this month’s match.  As most of you know, he’s way better at this stuff than I am, so you guys are in excellent hands!

Setup starts at 7:00 am and registration/check-in ends at 8:30 am.  No walk-ons after 8:30, no exceptions.  There will be a new shooters meeting at 8:30 and a mandatory safety meeting at 8:45.

January 2017 Brothers N Arms USPSA Pistol Match Results

January 28, 2017 11 comments

The day started out chilly and overcast, but soon warmed up as 57 shooters came together to kick off 2017 for the Brothers N Arms USPSA Club.  We had 6 stages plus a classifier with a great mix of short and long lay outs that, at least for yours truly, required just as much mental effort as physical.

We were also happy to have Brent Lindley, owner and proprietor of The Zombie Shop, a retail gun store in Petal, MS, join us as a first time shooter today.  We were even luckier that, out of the blue, he brought along a tricked out Glock 17 to give away by random drawing!  Congratulations to Charlie Sims, the lucky winner.  Be sure to run by and check out Brent’s shop when you have the chance.  Where else but South Mississippi can you find a top notch gun store inside of a pharmacy!!  “Yes, I’d like the Sig P229 in FDE along with the Aspercreme, please.”  Very cool, indeed.  Thanks so much, Brent!  Check out their Facebook page here – The Zombie Shop at Park Place Pharmacy.

On to the match results.  Steven Sanders handily won both Limited division Read more…

Yesterday’s USPSA pistol match at the Brothers N Arms range was the perfect way to cap off a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend for 50 shooters.  The day started out at a chilly 45 degrees but warmed up nicely as the sun rose in the perfectly blue sky.  The six stages moved along at a good pace, with all four squads finishing up around noon.  This included the super fast break down of the stages by the the contestants that stayed and helped, made even better by the addition of an onsite storage container by the great folks at Brothers N Arms.  A huge thank you to both !!

The match and the Open division were won decisively by John Nguyen, Read more…

October Brothers N Arms USPSA Pistol Match

October 22, 2016 Leave a comment

What a difference a week can make, Fall is finally here!  We started a great day with temperatures in the low 50’s and I don’t think it ever got above 75 degrees.  We had a good turnout, fielding 3 squads with 30 shooters in total, more than was expected given that the Louisiana Gator Classic is in full swing this weekend. The hammers went down at 9 am and we were finished by noon.  Thank you to everyone that helped with breakdown, your efforts are invaluable to this club!

Thomas Knight won the overall match as well as the Limited division, but Corey Mitchell Read more…

September Brothers N Arms USPSA Pistol Match Results

September 24, 2016 Leave a comment

It was a beautiful day at the Brothers N Arms Range and 48 shooters came out to take advantage of it.  Many thanks to all that made the trip!  Even with six stages and a fairly strong round count, the match was finished for the most part by 12:30 or so.  Breakdown was quick thanks to many hands making light work.

Max Michel, Sr. took top honors as well as winning the open division. Michael McDonald won the Production division with Drew Walters taking top honors in Limited.  Complete scores can be found here.
