Something To Talk About…
We have been without (matches) in South Mississippi for almost a month now. While the nice weather and lack of rain has caused disappointment every weekend since we shut down (because we could have been shooting), I thought it might be interesting to look at some data from the past three years.
Now, don’t get your hopes up about seeing combined results of all matches from our three clubs for three years, cause that ain’t gonna happen. I have been dealing with Nationals slots Read more…
2020 Factory Gun and Race Gun Nationals slot codes available *UPDATE 1*
This is the first update to the Nationals slot registration for Factory and Race Gun matches. I received 2 slots for the Limited/Open match and 3 slots for the Production/Carry Optics match.
Do not let this deter you from registering to get one of these slots. The club presidents will award the slots based on participation during 2019. And, even of you don’t get one of the slots, you can almost certainly register during general registration.

March 2020 Poplarville pistol match results
Today, everything worked out. The weather cooperated, the range was in good shape, and the stages were fantastic! The 32 shooters who lost an hour to Daylight Saving Time last night gained that and more in a super-fun match. The match pace was good, and even though we started 30 minutes later than normal, due to the change in time, we still finished in less than 3 hours. There wasn’t too much to load back in the truck so we were on the way well before 1 PM.
There were several high hit factor stages up for grabs because sometimes, it’s
just fun to go fast and hose. And hosing we did. Today the title of King Hoser went to Read more…

March 2020 Poplarville 3-Gun match results

The only thing wrong with today was the low turnout. The 12 folks who did shoot had a great time and the stages were challenging, but fun. The weather cooperated and it was shirt-sleeve weather most of the day, although it was in the 30’s when I arrived this morning.
One of the more fun aspects today was the return of the mover. We probably haven’t shot that in 5 or 6 years. Think of a zipline with a large plywood board on it that carries a target (or two, sometimes) that moves at terrifying speeds. Most people just shot at it as much as they could and hoped for the best. But it was different and it was fun. Maybe one of the shooters will post their video online…
We knew going in, there would be a new winner today with both Kevin and Morgan at a new 3-gun match in Texas. With almost everyone having a chance, the competition was fierce. But somebody always wins, and today that was Read more…
What you can do to help your Match Director
I’m writing this in response to a post by John Hoffman on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/GCUSPSA/permalink/2212067592229505/), who made a simple request of his match shooters. I started responding there with a comment, but I quickly realized I would get the TL;DR (too long; didn’t read) tag very quickly. So, I took it to a more appropriate place. If you got here from that FB post, thank you for checking this out.
John’s request was that anyone who registers for any of Tangi’s matches through PractiScore should also withdraw THROUGH PractiScore if they are no longer able to attend the match. I wanted to offer my perspective as a long-time match director. And the TL;DR tag doesn’t apply here.
Having been a match director for way longer than the existence of PractiScore, Read more…
