June 2014 Poplarville pistol match results

Dawson PrecisionIt. Was. Hot.

That pretty much sums it up for today’s match. Thanks to everyone for coming out. See you next month…

Oh, wait, we need some scores. See, it was hot, did I mention that? Given the heat (95° when I left the range), we had a great turnout. A total of 23 shooters said they’d rather shoot than be cool, and we had five great (but quick) stages today and outstanding help setting up and tearing everything down. We were done shooting around 11:40 AM and had everything torn down within 30 minutes. So, all in all, it was about as good as it can get for June.

For the results, we only need to look as who’s hot (shooting-wise) and you’ll find your winners. Our overall winner was John Nguyen in Open. John has been making great strides in his quest to be Grand Master. He won the match by about 6.5% so it wasn’t close. In a mild upset in Production, A class shooter Bryant Willet topped two Master shooters to win there. Gerwin Henn took Limited and was third overall. In the hotly contested (meaning it was hot today) Revolver division, Gerald Benton squeaked by for the win.

I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the shooters who chose to renew their membership in our club today, and of course, over the past two months. The support you provide, both monetary and labor-wise, is the only reason we can even do this month after month. As a great man once said, “and thank you for your support” (circa 1984, Google it, if you don’t remember).

As summer wears on, we will strive to keep the matches quick, but challenging. Getting done before Noon makes a difference with the heat.
