March 2014 Poplarville 3-Gun match results

Today was the day of the new shooter. We had 13 shooters for the match, and four great stages. However, for Poplarville, five of these shooters were new to our match. That’s what we like, with new people finding out our secret in the woods, but unfortunately, our regular  turnout was a bit light. We’ll take 13, but we would prefer more. Anyway, the weather cooperated and we had no issues there. The stages were very challenging today, with multiple penalties on two stages. In fact, on stage 2 and 4, there were only 2 shooters on each who shot them clean. That’s pretty telling.

After the math was done, there, of course, was a winner. For the past 3 months, Joe Jones had ruled the roost, but today, he could only managed a second. Returning to the top was…Wayne Alcock, who was in training for a big match in a few weeks. In a pleasant surprise, new (to us) shooter, Mara Wanderer took third and missed second by just 5 match points. That’s not much in 3-gun. Congratulations to the winners and runners-up. Hopefully, everyone had a great time, if not a great match. Your match organizers greatly appreciate the help from the shooters both before and after the match in setting up and tearing down. A special thanks goes to the new shooters who traveled great distances and gave up their Sunday just to be with us.

If you had fun today, tell you shooting buddies to come back with you next month.

Many thanks to all for coming out. BJ was setting up on Saturday, as well as this morning, plus he does a great job with the scores. Thanks Bill.
Also, we had lots of help with set up and tear down, including two new shooters that were there before seven am, and helped set up the MGMs on the hillside. Many thanks to all.
I hope the stages were fun, yet challenging for everyone.
