August 2013 Pearlington pistol match results
Weather was the big story in August. With Harrison County flooding from all night rain, many of the regulars from the East decided we weren’t going to shoot. But we did. And we had a darn good match, to boot. We didn’t get any rain during the match (at the range), and the temperature was moderated by persistent cloud cover, so it was pleasant by August standards.
We had 16 shooters show up to shoot four great stages. The overall match winner was…Randy Pretlove, who also won Open division. It was very close, though, with Steven Lasavia (the Single Stack winner) less than 4 match points behind. Production was hotly contested, with Sean Benton finally putting together four good strings in the same match to take the top spot in that division and third overall. Gerald won revolver and Tony Adams took the Limited group. Aside from a few minor scoring issues with no penalty Mikes on stage 4, everything went smoothly with the electronic scoring. It would be hard to go back to paper now.
The help for setup and tear-down was great, and as always, greatly appreciated. With the light turnout, it makes more work for the ones that help, so we do notice these things.
