Our new web site is live!

Welcome to the new home of SMSPS (South MiSsissippi Practical Shooting). Starting in 2012, we are changing our look. It has been 8 years since we started our website and the look has never changed. The old site was… functional, at best.

With this new look, stuff will be better organized, and easier to find. Additionally, this new system allows for comments to be made to the match reports. This will allow you to say *almost* anything you want regarding what is going on with the clubs or just to comment on the latest match.

In the past, this web site has reported on the South Mississippi Practical Shooting Association, or SMPSA (Poplarville) and the now-defunct Deep South Shooters Association, or DSSA (Gulfport). We have also posted scores for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Practical Shooters, or MGCPS (Pearlington), but without the witty commentary on the matches.

Starting in January, this site will feature both SMSPS and MGCPS on the same site with full match commentary. Many shooters frequent both matches, so it only makes sense to combine our resources. And, much of the content from the old website will be posted here as well, including the entire match commentary from the 2011 season for SMSPS and match scores.

Over the coming weeks, I will be adding more content to this site and finally, around the beginning of the year, fully migrate the old web site to this new one. The URL will stay the same, but this site will replace the old one, which will be relegated to the dusty cache bins of Google forever.

    Thanks Bill,
    You da MAN!

All the Poplarville match-creating, follow-up, scoring/posting, (collecting money) covering costs for supplies, rent, insurance, props…and now this website; sounds like a job description for a paid General Manager. And thanks too, to Wayne too for all his props and creative stages. Poplarville is unique and fun IMHO.
I know the archived stuff has always been here to look at but it is easier to get-to.
I went into some of the old rants from a few years ago and laughed and cried at the “witty commentary”. A lot of the same ole’ problems seem to re-cycle.

Tom’s match is a handful too, but this format will surely help him get his message on-line and on-time. I am looking forward to reading his rants and quips too. He’s got a way with words too; he’ll bring a li’l NooAwlinz talk to the table.
If we have enough readership and participation on this forum, we may be able to coordinate setting-up matches in the future…It would be great to know who is coming to set-up. Too often the whole day depends on 2 or 3 people’s effort. Not because folks won’t help. They jus’ weren’t invited to help. I do it for the exercise.

    Thank you again Bill
