December 2011 SMPSA pistol match results

We ended up the year with a bang. We had a GREAT turnout today, considering the weather. In all, 28 shooters braved the overcast and breezy conditions to shoot another great 5 stage match. We had quite a few new shooters today and we really appreciate their participation in our match. Hopefully, they will come back next year for more great shooting.

Once again, the match ran smoothly, with no scoring miscues and no stage confusion. Thank you to the scorekeepers for paying attention and writing clearly.

Before getting to the results, I want to thank everyone who helped set up or tear down. We had lots to attend to and the help was really appreciated.

And now, the results. Our overall match winner and Open winner was Max Michel, who cruised to an easy victory. The Limited division came down to the difference between an A and a D on just one shot for the winner, Joel Senia. Second by only 0.367% (less than 2 match points) was Will Mullendore. In Production, Michael McDonald took the top spot. Mike Payne won Revolver and Bryant Willett took Single Stack. Congratulations to all shooters on a great match.

The match results are here.

The next day match will be January 8, 2012.

Our normal first Sunday 3-gun match for January falls on New Year’s Day so it has been cancelled. Come back in February for more 3-gun action.

In our rifle match, we had 7 shooters test their long gun skills. We shot our 3-gun scoring system, instead of the traditional USPSA scoring we have done in the past. This is a time based system. Our winner today was Bryant Willett.

The rifle scores are posted here.

Finally, this year has been a great success for the club. We had 228 shooters at our 11 pistol matches this year for an average of almost 21 per match. Today was the highest turnout of the year at 28.

From the officers of the South Mississippi Practical Shooting Association, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you next year.
