Poplarville 3-gun returns!
After a brief break for the heat, 3-gun action returns to the Poplarville range on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Bring your favorite 3 guns and join us for a day of great shooting and challenging stages.
Poplarville August night match reminder
On August 25, 2012, the Poplarville club will hold a night match at the range in Poplarville, MS. This will consist of rifle and pistol stages. NOTE, this is NOT a beginners match. If you have not shot pistol and rifle matches before, it is not the time to learn or try it out.
If you want to learn about 3-gun, our next match will be September 2, 2012 at the Poplarville range.
This night match will require shooting in the dark, both with and without illumination. Bring weapons mounted lights if you have them, or at least a hand-held tactical flashlight. Almost anything is allowed, other than Open class guns.
August Pearlington match rained out
Sadly, the rains came and washed away the match before it ever started. Maybe next month…

August 2012 Poplarville pistol match results
The threat of rain never materialized, so the footing conditions were just great. However, the humidity was so high, that most shooters were soaked by match end. That didn’t deter some great scores though. We had 20 shooters, including one two new to the sport and one new to the club, and 5 great stages to test their endurance. The heat took a toll on some, but didn’t seem to bother others.
For the second straight month, we had a big surprise in the scores.

July 2012 Poplarville pistol match results
The rain did come today but it only caused a 30 minute delay to the match start time. We had to replace quite a few wet targets, but once we got going, we rolled. We had thirteen shooters take a chance with the rain and win big. We shot five great stages and actually got done reasonably early, considering the rain and retargeting exercise.

June Poplarville Night Match
Our first night match of the season was held on the sultry evening of June 23. If you haven’t shot a match at night, then you don’t know what you are missing. We all think we are prepared to defend our home in the middle of the night, but without actually shooting at night where you in a strange environment, you probably aren’t ready. Low light, no light, blinding flashes, treacherous movement, inability to see your shots or results, all go into making a night match the most challenging type of shooting we do.
Tonight, we shot four stages under occasionally threatening skies, but the weather held, and we finished by Midnight. Read more…
