April 2018 Biloxi (DSSA) pistol match results
Last Sunday was another washout but we took advantage of the 5th Sunday of the month to shoot a make up match. Perfect weather and a great turnout made for a great day all around. It was pleasant to be outside on match day, for a change. We had 52 shooters compete today and many of them found a much more difficult bunch of stages than are usually seen in Biloxi. Our fearless leader recently shot the Area 6 match and experienced significantly more challenging stages there compared to what we normally set up, so he decided to do some on the job training with today’s stages. Of the 52 shooters, only 2 managed to avoid any Mikes, and only one of those guys avoided the No-shoots as well, to have a clean match. That’s how tough it was.
But it wasn’t just about shooting clean, it was about speed as well. Our overall match winner was fast and accurate and won the match by over 5%. Congratulations to Don Granier for the Open and Overall win. Roger Henn took second Overall and in Open. David Pape was a solid 3rd Overall and 1st in Limited. The Dupuy brothers claimed division titles with Blayne taking Carry Optics and Bryce winning Production. Brian Alford took the Limited 10 win, and Chris Brown cruised to a win in Single Stack.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who was able to help with setup and tear down. It’s a lot of work putting on a match and without your help, we couldn’t do this. Other than using more black and white pasters than normal today, things went pretty smoothly. We were lucky to have a makeup day available.
