November 2016 Poplarville pistol match results

Dawson PrecisionFall has finally arrived for the shooting season. The 3-gun match last week and today’s pistol match were about as pleasant as you could ask for, considering this is south Mississippi. The turnout was pretty light today, partly due the state level Steel Challenge match in Biloxi. In all, there were 15 shooters. Out of that, we had three first-time ever shooters. They all finished with no problem, and appeared to have a great time. We hope you come back for more in the future!

We tried something a bit different today with the stage setup. Instead of setting up one stage in each of the usual bays, we set up two stages side by side, in three of the bays. This was in part due to the left-over stages from the three-gun match last week, and part due to just trying something new. It seemed to work out, as no one waited on the “other” squad today.

Let’s talk results. The overall match and Open division winner wasGeorge Hemstad, who won going away. First place in Production and third overall went to Jason Welch. Wayne Alcock took first in Limited and was fourth overall. And finally, Doc Toups took the top spot in Single Stack. Congratulations to all the new shooters for doing so well!

Special thanks goes out to squad 1, who managed to tear down 2/3rd of the match themselves. Your help and everyone else’s help was greatly appreciated.
