June 2016 Poplarville pistol match results
Last month, I said “Oh, yeah, the weather was fantastic!” What a difference a month makes. It is now full-on Summer in South Mississippi and it was hot and humid at the range. But that didn’t stop 37 shooters from coming out. This was our best turnout since April of 2010. The match was set up as four stages that were high round count and (supposedly) quick to shoot and reset. That mostly worked out and we were done shooting well before Noon and had everything picked up and ready to leave by 12:15 PM.
Today’s match certainly favored the Open shooters. In fact, the top ten finishers were all in Open. But there was one Open shooter that managed to practically lap the rest of the field. Today’s win went to John Nguyen, who won by slightly more than 8% or 50 match points. For those who downloaded the match at the range, there is a change in second and third place. I discovered Max Michel had been registered as Minor instead of Major. When the change was made, Max passed Corey by just 3 match points to move from third to second. Sorry, Corey.
The other division winners included Steve Tannetta taking Limited, Wayne Alcock taking L10, Thomas Arthur winning Production, Bryon Mcintire taking Carry Optics, and Nick Saucier winning Single Stack.
We had several new shooters today. Thank you very much for coming out and shooting with us and supporting the club. We hope you had a good time and look forward to seeing you back in the future. We promise to have the air conditioning working next month!
Thank you also goes to everyone who helped with setup and teardown. When the weather is hot, it really makes a difference.
And, last but not least, thank you to everyone who has joined the club as a member. Your extra contribution really makes a difference.
