May 2013 Poplarville pistol match results

Dawson Precision

On Friday, it wasn’t looking good. On Saturday, we almost called it off. And then on Sunday, we were rewarded for our patience. The start of the weekend washed out the Biloxi match so we lost some valuable last-minute practice for the Classic. But we got our match in and actually had a good day. The weather was great, with mild temperatures and mostly overcast skies. We had a decent turnout with 16 shooters coming out. We had one new (to us) shooter and the rest were, as they say, grizzled veterans.

With 5 stages and 138 minimum shots, we got that valuable trigger time. Wayne went a little crazy and managed to set a 40 round monster which really emphasized movement and accuracy. In the end, it was the man with the dot on top taking the top spot. Our match winner was Randy Pretlove in Open, but by only 0.61 (0.1%) match points over Production winner, Bo Gray. That was close. Bill Jackson took the Limited top spot, with Gerald Benton winning Revolver, new-comer (to Poplarville) Tyler Huff winning Single Stack and Wayne Alcock taking Limited 10. A special mention goes out to Tyler, who as a C class Single Stack shooter beat out all the Limited and all but one Production shooters with his 3rd Place Overall score. Great shooting! Once again, we owe our thanks to those who helped set up the stages and to tear down everything at the end. Additionally, to those who renewed their club membership for 2013, we greatly appreciate your support and look forward to building more and better props for the coming season.

Good luck to everyone shooting the 2013 Mississippi Classic next weekend! We expect the Gulf Coast area to do well.
