May 2012 Poplarville pistol match results

Another match is history. While it was Mother’s Day and therefore, the turnout was a bit light, we shot four really interesting, challenging stages and a classifiers that some might be seeing in their sleep by now. The weather could hardly have been better. It rained a fair amount on Saturday and the road in was a bit slippery, but today, it was perfect. The temperature was great, it was overcast most of the time and humidity didn’t seem bad. The fourteen people who told Mom “I’ll be by later!” got some final practice in for the Mississippi Classic to be held next week in Jackson.

The scores are done and winners are in the books. So who won? Our overall match winner was Wayne Alcock, who also took Limited 10. Our Limited winner was Gerald Benton, but by less than 0.7%. Gerald is constantly proving that it isn’t running ability that wins matches, but instead, it is just good shooting. Bo Gray took the Production group, despite having penalties on 4 our of the 5 stages. And last but not least, Bob Brandt took Single Stack. The scores can be found by clicking the score sheet at the right.

A special thanks goes to Bob who designed and set up one of the stages, and as always, thanks goes to all of those who help to set up and tear down. The match was done in near record time thanks to that help.

We also need to thank those members who chose to renew their membership. The funds will help us add much-needed props to our repertoire.

  1. Bo, a.k.a. Chokey McPokey.

Thanks for putting a match together on this most scared holiday, and thanks for letting me shoot through so that I could get back to my mother, who was in town visiting but insisted that I go compete!

Great shooting today, Wayne– other than forgetting a popper that you personally hid in the woods, you definitely earned the top spot! And good luck at the Iron Man, since I won’t see you before then.

Thanks Bo. Yea, caught myself with that one, LOL.
Thanks to all for all the help. (I think we need Bob setting up more often) Good stages.

Good luck to all my friends going to “The Classic”. I had to drop out, and will miss it, but will be thinking of all of you having fun at a great match.
